10.7. About Chat¶

What is Chat?¶

This module allows you to create a chat room within the course and interact with participants in real time. You will not receive notifications when new posts are made.

10.7.1. How to Use Chat¶

1. Install the chat module.

2. Configure the chat settings, then click "Save and view"

3. To start a chat, click "Enter the Chat."

4. Once you've entered the chat room, type your message into the text box at the bottom left and click "Send" to post it in the chat.

5. Click "Use more accessible interface" to change the chat display format.

6. To view past chat sessions, click "Past sessions"

10.7.2. Chat Settings¶

Chat Room Name: Set the chat title.
Description: This is the chat description.

<Chat Session>

Next chat time: Set the start time for the next chat session.
Session Time Interval/Publication: Configure the session time interval.
- Do not display chat duration: Session durations will not be displayed.
- No repetition—Publish only at the specified time—: The message will be displayed starting at the time set for the next chat session.
- At the same time every day: A message will appear indicating that the chat session will start at the same time every day.
- At the same time every week: A message will appear indicating that the chat session will start at the same time every week.
Session retention period: Set the number of days to retain messages for each session.
Everyone can view past sessions: This setting allows students to view the content of past sessions.
