14. Backing Up and Restoring Courses¶
To reuse courses or modules within courses, use the course backup and restore feature.
14.1. How to Back Up¶
1. On the course page, click "Course reuse" under "More"

2. Click Backup.

3. Select the information you want to back up, then click "Next" at the bottom of the page.

4. Select the sections and modules you want to back up, then click "Next" at the bottom of the page.

5. Review the backup contents. After reviewing the contents, click "Perform Backup" at the bottom of the page.

6. The backup will be performed within Moodle.

7. After backing up, click "Restore" under "Course reuse" The backup file is saved in the "User private backup area"

14.2. How to Restore Backed-Up Data¶
1. On the course page, click "Course reuse" under "More" then click "Restore"

2. Upload the backup file from "Upload Backup File," then click "Restore"
Alternatively, click "Restore" next to the backup file in the "User private backup area"

3. The contents of the backup file will be displayed. After reviewing them, click "Continue"

4. Click "Continue" under "Restore to this course." If you want to upload the backup to a different course, click "Continue" under "Restore to an existing course."

5. Select the information you want to restore, then click "Next" at the bottom of the page.

6. Select the items to restore, then click "Next" at the bottom of the page.

7. Review the restore details, then click "Perform Restore" at the bottom of the page.
