4.5. Administering quizzes to students¶
What is a quiz?¶
This is an online testing feature that students use to assess their understanding of the course material. In Moodle, you can create quizzes consisting of questions in various formats.
You can create questions for a quiz either by creating them directly while creating the quiz, or by using questions you have already created in the question bank.
How to Set Up a Quiz¶
1. Install the quiz module.
2. Configure the quiz.
Here is an explanation of the main settings. For information on other settings, please refer to the detailed manual.

| Description | Enter the description for the quiz. |
| Display description on course page | When you check it, a description will appear on the course page. |

| Open the quiz | If you select a date and time and check the "Yes" box, you will be able to take the exam starting from that date and time. |
| Close the quiz | If you select a date and time and check the "Yes" box, you will be able to take the exam until that date and time. |
<Grade>

| Grade to pass | We will determine the minimum score required to pass. Passing scores will be highlighted in green, and failing scores in red. |
<Question behaviour>

| Shuffle within questions | If you select "Yes" the questions in the quiz will be shuffled and displayed in random order. |
3. Once you have finished setting up the quiz, add the questions.
How to Add Questions¶
There are two ways to add questions: you can either create a new question or select one from the question bank.
How to create a new question¶
1. Click "Add Problem."
2. Proceed to the following screen, click "Add" in the lower-right corner, and select "New Question."
3. Click "New Question" to display a list of question types, then select the desired type to create your question. Please refer to the detailed manual for information on question types and how to create them.
How to add questions from the question bank¶
1. Click "Add Problem."
2. Proceed to the following screen, click "Add" in the lower-right corner, and select "from question bank"
3. Select a category from the question bank. Select questions that have been saved in the question bank and add them to the quiz.
4. Set the point value for each question, then click Save.
