4.6. Have students submit their reports

Use "Assignments" when you want students to submit reports or other work.

Define the problem

1. Install the "Assignments" module.

2. Set up the assignment. Once you're done, click "Save and view" The main settings are listed below. For information on other settings, please refer to the detailed manual.

<General>

Settings Content
Assignment name This is the title of the module displayed within the course.
Description This is the module description. It is suitable for providing details about the assignment.
Activity Instructions This is the text displayed on the assignment submission page. It is suitable for providing instructions and other important notes regarding the submission process.


<Availability>

Settings Content
Allow submissions from Set the start date and time for assignment submission.
Due date Set the date and time when the assignment submission period ends.
Cut-off date Set the date and time after which assignments can no longer be submitted.
Remind me to grade by This is the scheduled date for grading. A notification will be sent to the teacher's dashboard.


*Assignments may still be submitted after the deadline. If an assignment is submitted after the deadline, the student will be notified that the deadline has passed.



<Submission Type>

Settings Content
Submission Type Set the option to either enter text and submit (online text) or submit a pre-prepared file (file submission).
Maximum submission size Set the maximum file size for submissions.
Accepted file types Select the file formats you want to allow for submission.


<Feedback Type>

Settings Content
Feedback Type You can choose any of the following options.
Feedback Comments: You can provide feedback by entering comments on the grading screen.
Feedback Files: By reviewing submitted assignments and uploading the files, you can return the results to students and provide them with feedback.
Offline Grading Worksheet: You can upload an Excel-format grading worksheet with grades and feedback comments entered, allowing you to apply grades in bulk.

Allowed attempts Set the maximum number of times an assignment can be submitted.


Assessment Methods for Assignments

●A method of grading students one by one Once the student has submitted the assignment, click "Grade" on the module page.

The details of each student's assignment are displayed on the screen, and you can enter scores and comments.

● How to enter everyone's scores in a list on the screen Once the student has completed the submission, click "Submit" on the module page. A list of students and the status of their assignment submissions is displayed, and you can enter feedback and grades.

How to upload files and submit grades and feedback all at once

1. Once the student has completed the submission, click "Submissions" on the module page.

2. Click "Actions" on the right side of the screen, then open the Excel file downloaded from "Download grading worksheet"

3. Since the downloaded file contains a list of each student’s submission status, enter the grades and feedback comments, save the file, and upload the grading worksheet.
